The Paradise Route is an art and nature trail on East Bornholm which consists of a series of architectural works that bring together and showcases the distinctive qualities of Bornholm; nature, art and culture.
The route should be seen as an experimental and unique showcase for art and architecture where visitors get the opportunity to interact and experience art in interaction with the distinctive Bornholm nature. With The Paradise Route we want to support and reinforce the story of art experiences combined with an active holiday on Bornholm. The purpose of the installations is to combine nature, art and culture into one overall holistic experience.
The route consist of 4-7 fixed main points, each with an installation placed in different landscapes around the island. Every installation has its own unique program which enhance the experience of the specific place but also gives something back to the local community – as example, a sauna, playground, stage, exhibition space, etc. You can bike from point to point, and around each installation are marked hiking routes in different length. The installations could be seen as small “basecamps” for each landscape from where you explore the area. All installations will be made in collaboration with local artist and craftsmen. The project is founded by Statens Kunstfond and is ongoing.
